IT'S DOCTOR'S DAY!

Today the world is celebrating Doctor's Day! A profession almost every child used to dream about to be in a decade or so ago. The respected, honoured and noble profession !

I am a doctor today. Immediately question comes to me which types ..? Are you a cardiologist, physician, ophthalmologist or ...?

I used to feel low to answer this question when I was  a fresher in this profession. Because invariably my answer used to follow - a? ohh, I thought ... The response of the erson suddenly getting changed to a reaction was heavy for me to accept.

Afterall I have worked hard for 10 + 2, I have prepared to my level best to get my dream medical college.Still I settled to get admission in a government college for BAMS course.Private medical colleges were not within the financial reach obviously.

Started to study syllabus , attend private clinics with the determination of learning human body, diseases and treatment thoroughly.Never felt something is missing as completely engrossed in learning traditional curriculum alongwith modern medical science and applying both thoughtfully to the patient's requirements became my passion.

I always felt blessed to study Indian System of Medicine ,perhaps it was rooted somewhere in my personality. It has tuaght me the Mantra of Prevention is Always better than Cure ! We can avoid emergencies to great extent simply by maintaining routines based on our Prakriti ie Anatomy and Physiology in short.

After working for around 2 decades as Ayurved consultant I learnt the prevention of diseases is achieved greatly by a healthy psyche. Then my next goal became the study of human psychology. This journey was so enjoyable which I still cherish. Ultimately I secured the degree of  a Clinical Psychologist.

Now I felt equipped enough to manage and treat  and prevent physical diseases alongwith psychological hygiene. Last 7 years were the best in my career as I understood that I have reached the stage where my hobby, passion and inner urge match.

What else could be the definition of  a successful profession ?

Thank you everyone who were and are a part of this journey.

Now its upto your lookout to wish me Happy Doctor's Day or not. I am grateful for this milestone achieved!
